She came to the tomb...early...while it was still dark

Lake Wilcox, Richmond Hill on a beautiful spring day Today is Easter Sunday. The day we remember the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus. John tells us that "Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early while it was still dark..." John 20:1. She came alone. A single woman. Loved one your relationship with the Lord is personal, one on one. God calls us to a relationship with Him and He promises in Jeremiah 29:12 - 13 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. She came early while it was still dark. John 20:1 Her grief and the horror of the events of the last 2 days did not stop her. The account does not say she was not afraid of the dark. Maybe she was and maybe she wasn't - but one thing is clear. She was so desperate to go to Him that she came out in the dark. Are you in the dark just now - your life is not where you want it to be? Wake up friend and seek Him while i

The unfinished wood trim on my windows

Today was a beautiful day outside.         The sun was shining.              I opened my windows to let the spring air in and I could hear the birds singing. Spring is here. For most it is a time of joy and a reminder of new life. For me it is a reminder of death. Two years ago another spring day. A day that started out so perfect, so full of promise... We were finally getting a brand new set of windows. The contractors were here. One phone call changed it all, the police car at my door...the horror and shock and utter disbelief that what was supposed to be a only a nightmare was indeed reality. By the time the contractors finished the job, he was gone. They were kind and sympathetic and even put the curtains back up. But the wood trim was left for us to paint - was not part of the contract. I sat on my bed this morning - the sun was streaming in and my eyes fell on the wood trim.      Almost 2 years later still raw, unfinished. A stark reminder of that day.
