Found myself in Psalm 90 this morning and God speaks to me again through the verses that I believe He allowed Julius to underline for me now. There are no comments beside these verses and I wonder "what were you thinking Julius?" Perhaps God was speaking to you about the brevity of your life here on earth. I know you were ready to meet your Creator, because we talked about it a lot.
For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
as brief as a few night hours.
5 You sweep people away like dreams that disappear.
They are like grass that springs up in the morning.
6 In the morning it blooms and flourishes,
but by evening it is dry and withered.
Seventy years are given to us!
Some even live to eighty.
But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble;
soon they disappear, and we fly away.
Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.
Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love,
so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
15 Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good. Vs 4-6, 10, 14-15 (NLT)
Thank you Lord that you warn us about the brevity of our lives here on earth and the need to grow in wisdom. You alone can satisfy us with your unfailing love everyday, so that we can sing in eternity.
Dear Reader, as you look ahead at your life, rethink it in the light of God's perspective in these verses. How are you planning your life ahead? As if today could be your last? God expects us to be good stewards of the resources He has given us - most of all time. Ask Him and He will bestow on you wisdom to plan ahead in such a way that it counts for eternity. Eternity is waiting for each one of us and like Julius we could be in the presence of Jesus without any warning - even today.
Lord help me to live my life today as if it is the last, for I do not know when you will sweep me away.
